Application Procedures

To Become an Applicant:

    1. You must file a complete application with the Laguna Department of Education. All information requested on the application form should be filled out accurately and completely. "See Resume" will not suffice for any information request.

    2. Please include a cover letter, current resume, and at least 2 to 3 letters of recommendation (current to one year).
      1. If you are an inexperienced teacher, one of those recommendations must be a student-teaching evaluation or recommendation from your cooperating teacher. If you are an experienced teacher, one of those letters must be a recommendation from a recent or current administrator.
    3. You must submit a copy of all up to date unofficial transcripts of college/university credits or request the registrar of your school to send them to the Laguna Department of Education, Attn: Human Resources.

    4. You must submit a copy of your current/valid New Mexico Teaching Licensure.

    Open until filled LES- Kindergarten Teacher The teacher will primarily be responsible for planning, implementating and evaluating instructional activities in assigned subject in a regular classroom and also working in group settings outside the regular classroom. Strong background in reading and math instruction. Other major responsibilities will include curriculum evaluation and IEP's. Laguna Elementary School
    Open until filled LES- Fourth Grade Teacher The teacher will primarily be responsible for planning, implementating and evaluating instructional activities in assigned subject in a regular classroom and also working in group settings outside the regular classroom. Strong background in reading and math instruction. Other major responsibilities will include curriculum evaluation and IEP's. Laguna Elementary School
    Open until filled LMS Teacher – Science 7th/8th Grade The teacher will be primarily responsible for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of instructional activities in the content areas, within a setting that allows for full inclusion of special education children. Other major responsibilities will include curriculum evaluation, student supervision, teaching Reading Intervention or Math Intervention, regular tutorial session during the work day and setting/achieving ambitious goals.     Open Until Filled LMS Teacher The teacher will be primarily responsible for the planning, delivery and assessment; full participation in Professional Learning Community to include managing advisory group, teaching Reading Intervention and holding regular tutorial session during the work day.     Open Until Filled LMS Mathematics Teacher - 2 Postions The teacher will primarily be responsible for planning, implementating and evaluating instructional activities in assigned subject in a regular classroom and also working in group settings outside the regular classroom.     Open Until Filled Preschool Head Start Education/Disabilities Coordinator Under direction of the DEC Executive Director, the Coordinator will work with the PHS teaching staff to meet Head Start performance Standards. It is the responsibility of the Coordinator to monitor teaching staff as they work towards the social, emotional, physical and cognitive development of children through establishing caring and positive relationships with children and their families. Must be knowledgeable of early childhood education and development curriculum framework, developmental screening tools, ongoing developmental assessments, Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) observational tool and reflective practice early childhood approach strategies. PHS
    Open Until Filled Preschool Head Start- Teacher Incumbent will provide a welcoming, safe and supervised educational setting for children while they are in the program environment (classroom, outdoor play area and field trips). The teacher will help the PHS program meet Head Start Performance Standards. It is the responsibility of the teacher to promote the social, emotional, physical and cognitive development of children through establishing caring and positive relationships with children and their families.     Open until filled Speech-Language Pathologist The Speech and Language Pathologist will evaluate children's needs for ancillary speech and language services, provide services as required by children's IEP's in the least restrictive environment, and Model language development activities in the classroom. The incumbent will provide consultation and staff in-service on issues relating to speech and language development, offer support, information, and service coordination for families with children with special needs, and provide families with training, modeling, resources and feedback.
